Talley’s Ice Cream is asking the public whether they’d like to see their Green Tea Ice Cream in New Zealand freezers, after it scooped the supreme award at the 2017 New Zealand Ice Cream Awards.
The award, in the standard ice cream category for large manufacturers, was one of 17 awards the company took home on Friday night.
Ice creams produced for the export market scooped the majority of the awards, while the Talley’s Hokey Pokey, Wild Berry, Vanilla, Guilt Free Vanilla and Guilt Free French Vanilla flavours produced for the local market were recognised with silver awards in their respective categories.
The silver award presented to the Hokey Pokey was judged by a panel of 11 children in the “kids choice” category, while the Wild Berry and Vanilla flavours were in premium ice cream sections.
The two Guilt Free flavours were awarded silver awards in the low fat category.
Overall, Talley’s Ice Cream took out the supreme award, two awards for best in category, three gold awards and 11 silver awards.
Due to its success, as well as popular demand, Talley’s Ice Cream is looking to launch a 1 Litre tub of award winning export Green Tea Ice Cream to the New Zealand market.
It was among a range of export-only tubs to land awards at the event, and Talley’s Ice Cream is considering bringing a range of flavours which have had international success to New Zealand customers.
